Community-based Approaches with Joao Bueno

Posted by chads on April 21, 2008

Sorry about the late notice, but Joao Bueno, a friend I met in Mozambique, will be in town, and has accepted an invitation for dinner this Wednesday, April 23. Please join us from 7:30-8:30pm for desserts and discussion about community-based interventions. Joao has spent the last 2 years (I think) in Mozambique as the program director for the Family Preservation Program, a community-based development program. (See here and here for details). Joao’s presentation was great. I recently received training on community-based mobilization and wanted to add that Joao’s procedures in Mozambique aligned well with the text I used. The great thing is that this text is very simple, and great field manual for NGOs and others that want to learn more about community mobilization. It is free in pdf form online for your reference.

Thanks for the input, Ryan. I also enjoyed the presentation. We should have a summary from Joao soon. Looks like a great resource; I’ll take a look at it.
